Basic Stages of Gear Production
1. Material Processing and Forming:
The first step of the production process is the correct processing of the selected material. Steel, bronze or composite materials are processed by methods such as milling, turning or laser cutting and brought to the desired gear form.
2. Threading Techniques:
The tooth profiles of the gears are formed by various production methods. The most commonly used methods are:
* Milling: Precise tooth profiles are created with CNC machines.
* Turning: Especially used in the production of large gears.
* Electro Erosion (EDM): Ideal for complex gears that require high precision.
3. Heat Treatment and Surface Hardening:
One of the most important stages used in gear production is heat treatment. Processes such as hardening, nitriding and cementation increase the surface hardness of the gear, making it resistant to wear.
4. Precision Measurement and Quality Control:
After the gear production is completed, quality control is carried out with precision measuring devices. The dimensional accuracy and surface quality of the gears are checked using coordinate measuring machines (CMM), optical scanners and profile projections.
Quality control processes in gear production are of great importance to ensure that the product is error-free. Low margin of error, precise and durable gears ensure smooth operation of machines and long service life.
